On Daytime TV Gameshows

Chase and Mommy have been sick for 6 and 3 days, respectively. There were also 2 snowstorms. Setting: Stir-crazy and therefore marathon-watching daytime TV.

Chase (excitedly): Is Price is Right on yet?

Mommy: Nope, still Let's Make a Deal.

Chase (frustrated at noticing I'm not really paying attention): Mama, she won home office furniture! Why don't you care?!

Price is Right starts, and the prize up for grabs is a new car. 

Chase: Wow, a car! And a person! That's a great prize!

Uh, models not included.

On Cucumbers

Chase: Woah, that's a big cucumber!
Keith: That's what she said
Chase: What? What did she say?

On Hatred

We are working with Chase on not using inappropriate words/phrases like "stupid" and "hate." He corrects us regularly for saying both of these things...so I guess it's working. Or maybe not.

Chase: Mommy, I can't say "hate."
Tracy: That's right; it's not nice.
Chase: But what happens if I hate babies?
Tracy (appalled): That's really not nice, Bud. You can't hate babies.
Chase (exasperated): Not Claire, Mommy. Just babies I don't know.

This is a special edition of Hot Dog Dialogue...it was too good to pass up.

The family is getting ready to go to the town's annual Memorial Day Parade.

Chase: Do you think there will be a marching band?
Keith (smirking): No, bud, I don't think so.
Tracy (confused): I think there probably will be. At least the high school's, right?
Keith (more confused): Wait, what?
Tracy and Chase: A marching band.
Keith: Oh, I thought you said a martian man.

On The Blog

Keith and I mention the blog in conversation while Chase is in the room.

Chase: What's a blog?
Keith: It's a website where Mommy writes down the funny things you say so we can remember them later. We can show you if you want.

Pause, as he contemplates this idea.

Chase: Ugh. That sounds boring.
